Meealaha

A Sacred Experience

Meealaha
Mandey Lund

Sacred, in this space, means connected to an uplifting and inspiring spiritual energy. Everything here is sacred: the objects, the people, the actions, and the blessings.

I wanted to create a space fruitful to being anything that everyone who entered the space needed. I see it as a space to heal and be healed, if that is what is needed, or to simply fill up ones natural energy so one can feel alive and well in and out of the space. Once healed, the spirits inside everyone are free to be and play with the other spirits in the room or to entertain themselves however they like.

The entire show, formally, is an installation for a performance art piece. I will be present every day as a guru of the space.

Meealaha as a place and installation

Meealaha meshes aspects of familiar, physical places with ones that are fantastic, dreamt, or felt. It has qualities from places like a garden, sanctuary, wedding reception, art gallery, village, vacation destination, museum, meditation center, place for healing, quirky aunt’s house, temple, dream, summer camp, home, community, spirit, thought, wish, cry, and place that has never been.

Meealaha as an experience and performance

The experiences you have could feel much like ones you would have in any of the places listed above. However, while those places may have traditions and unspoken social rules to follow, this is an experience that is as you wish. You can be however you’d like. Meealaha allows you to interact, calling for you to move throughout the space, to dance, to perform, to sing, to hug, to simply be in your body in this space and in this time, to sit and enjoy the community as it forms around you, and ultimately, to do and receive whatever you may need for yourself.

Meealaha as a story and message

The stories inside the story that is Meealaha all focus on truth telling in a free and poetic form, allowing for a deeper truth to be unleashed beyond the physical or acted truth. Ultimately, this place and the experiences that took place here will be passed on and documented through stories that grow a life of their own through time and the memory.

Meealaha as me and you

Me? Well, I am the initial spirit and guru of the space. I am here to lead you and guide you through. I am one of you, experiencing it as you are, but aware of all that it is, so I am able to show you the way. When I am not here, my presence is here guiding you and helping you find your way or simply enjoying the journey alongside you. You? Well, you are your own spirit and guru of your experience. Whatever you need, are, and feel-  you can have, be, and do here.
